Consensus, the Rainbow Way

 

Those who gather talk about consensus a lot. There are a number of different understandings about how consensus takes place within the community of those who participate in Rainbow Gatherings.  In my humble opinion, too many people only involve themselves in the circle/council/counsel process for vision council when we decide were to go.  I think that leaves us as a family lacking in practice for how to discuss and reach things in a positive and loving manner.

That being said, there are different ways that consensus can happen. In a more formal council/counsel/circle is one way, but truly the number of people who participate in these are a fraction of those who attend gatherings, do the work at gatherings, and believe that gatherings are the practice for a new world order of peace, love, and cooperation.

So how else does consensus happen?

One way is what I call "consensus by foot."  This is when people use their feet to take them where they want to or don't want to be. We saw that happen last year with the Om From Home movement to encourage people to om at home or with small groups of people in their region.

I think this year we are seeing "consensus by foot" play out as well. We have multiple smaller gatherings happening scattered around the country as well as people choosing to "om from home." We saw this in 2020 as well.   This is to minimize the risk of transmitting COVID-19 to our family and is done with much love by so many people.

This year's unusual name

Normally, I create a new blog each year that has at a minimum the general area we intend to gather in next year. Because things are so up in the air and will take months for a vision to start emerging, this year's blog is just 2021.  The folks on the land in Idaho 2020 reached a consensus to go to specific national forests in the states of New Mexico or Arizona last year.    Many people had a vision of doing the 2021 gathering in Idaho.    "Prism" is the word The word I've been hearing about gathering to pray and/or meditate for world peace this 4th of July is this idea of a prism that refracts the light. The metaphor seems backwards to but the basic idea that that we have points of light scattered about the USA. Where will the prism gatherings (plural) be?

Updated 6/23/2021 at 3 PM Pacific Time This year is shaping up to be multiple smaller gatherings and/or camp outs over the July 4th prayer for world peace. Some of these gatherings will have an emphasis on COVID-19 safety protocols, others perhaps not so much. Many people may chose not to gather.  The idea is not to have one large gathering, but to spread points of light around the land.   The pandemic is still on-going and many of us take this very seriously.  The idea is that of the prism where the light comes in an refracts out to many points around the USA. A lot of this is off the raider and very confusing. There are frequent Zoom webinars/conference calls where the plans are being discussed and people are being asked to plug in to different efforts.
